Welcome to Confessiones Mathematicae
Confessiones Mathematicae is a new journal that publishes autobiographical (or autohistorical) articles written by mathematicians. The aim is to encourage mathematicians (here understood in a broad sense) to share stories from their mathematical lives, and to collect these stories, making them freely available and easy to find. An important point to make here is that we look for stories, not only from famous people, but from all kinds of mathematicians. We believe that this would be of great benefit to the mathematical community, and that it also would be a valuable source material for future historians of mathematics.
As an example, an article could focus on an old research project, and in addition to explaining the mathematics, it could describe how the author got interested in the problem, and it could also give an account on the actual work process. Alternatively, an article could describe how the author found an application of mathematics, or tell about the author’s experiences of teaching mathematics.
